Stormwater Management invited all third through fifth grade students in the Garland Independent School District to participate in the ninth annual stormwater contest.
This year the students were asked to create a comic strip for the theme “Be Stormwater Smart”.
First place students received $300 each, second place received $200 and third place received $100 each. Teachers of the winning students received an amount equal to half of what their students won in order to purchase classroom supplies.
The highest student participation this year went to Walnut Glen Academy with a total of 92 entries. Overall, thirteen elementary schools competed in this contest.
Congratulations to everyone! Stormwater Management encourages even more eligible GISD students and teachers to participate in next year’s contest. For more information or to report stormwater pollution, call the Stormwater Hotline at 972-205-2180 or visit us at garlandstormwater.org.
