The Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) has recently announced that all adults will be eligible for COVID vaccinations.
If you are over the age of 60 and would like to get the COVID vaccine, you can do so without an appointment. We will be accepting walk-ins at our Public Health Clinic at 206 Carver Drive from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
The City of Garland Health Department will host its next mass vaccination event from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, at Johnson Stadium, located at 1029 E. Centerville Road. This drive-thru event will provide one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccines while supplies last with no appointment necessary. To speed up the vaccination process, please print a vaccine registration form from the Vaccine Information webpage and bring the completed form with you.
Those who are due for their second Moderna dose will receive a notification when their appointment is scheduled.
Anyone who is medically unable to come to the clinic or a mass vaccination event may contact the Garland Health Department at 972-205-3900 to make alternative arrangements.
Monitor the City’s Twitter and Facebook pages, as well as this page, for vaccination availability updates.
GHD has received and administered the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine consists of two doses. The second dose should be administered 28 days after the initial dose. However, second doses administered as early as 24 days after the initial dose are still considered valid. Per CDC recommendations, you have up to 6 weeks (42 days) after the first dose to receive the second dose. With GHD, you do not need to re-register for the second dose. We will contact you with appointment information.
When you receive the vaccine please ensure the second dose is the same type. Please use the V-Safe Health Checker if you have a smart phone. Save the card provided at your first vaccination to keep track of which vaccine you received. GHD does not provide replacement cards.
It is critical that everyone continue to practice personal protective measures to prevent disease spread until vaccines are widely distributed throughout our nation.
